With reference to your cypher telegram of the 12th February. The hides which it is desired to export are 180 light buffalo weighing about 1 tons and 148 light cow weighing 924 pounds. The usual average weight of the former type is17 to 20 pounds, of the latter type 5 to 8 pounds.

The weight of heavy buffalo hides is from 21 to 30 pounds and of heavy cow hides from 9 to 15 pounds. The stock of hides in Hong Kong amounts to nearly 1000 tons and abut 75 per cent of these are heavy hides.
